William Acevedo - Founder / CEO

Young Urban Christians & Artists, Inc. (YUCA) was started in 2006 when William Acevedo, a Puerto Rican graphic designer born and raised in New York City's Lower East Side, felt the need to help youth from similar under served neighborhoods achieve direction, self-esteem, and success in life by fulfilling their creative potential. William earned an M.S. in communications design from Pratt Institute and has more than twenty five years experience in the graphic design, illustration, and print industry.

All program components are implemented by trained professional artists from diverse backgrounds including, cartooning, illustration, graphic design and screen-printing. A few board members are also experienced, degreed artists who inform program development. Hired as mentors, professional artists provide arts education and professional coaching to the young people. In addition, the YUCA Arts Certificate Program benefits from the time and effort provided by parent volunteers and/or adult mentors throughout the year.
