Who We Are

Our Mission

YUCA exists to ignite youth empowerment and community transformation through art and entrepreneurship. We provide a safe, culturally diverse environment for teens to experiment, innovate, and share their stories. By integrating reflective art practices, business acumen, and mentorship, we help youth overcome challenges, build emotional resilience, and amplify their voices as advocates for equity, belonging, and sustainable community growth.

History Of YUCA

YUCA (Young Urban Christians and Artists) is a non-profit organization based in the South Bronx, dedicated to empowering young people through the arts. Founded in 2006 by William Acevedo, YUCA began as an initiative to teach art to children in a storefront church. Over time, it evolved into a formalized non-profit, establishing a foundational graphic and digital design curriculum to introduce students to visual communication concepts, typography, layout, and design fundamentals.
